Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-10-28
"Korea Map Bridge" (the "Service") has no sign-up and does not itself collect or store personal information that identifies you. However, information may be processed or passed to external services as described below.
1. Information stored only on your device
Your language setting and recently viewed places (place name, coordinates and address, up to 10) are stored only in your browser’s local storage and are never sent to our server. You can remove them on the home screen, and they are deleted when you clear your browser data.
2. Your location
When you tap "Directions (KakaoMap)", your browser asks for permission to use your location. If you allow it, your current coordinates are used only in your browser to make the directions link and are passed to KakaoMap when it opens. They are never sent to our server.
If you don’t allow it, KakaoMap opens without a starting point.
3. Information passed to external services
- Place search: your search text is sent to OpenStreetMap Nominatim.
- Resolving Google Maps short links: the link you paste is passed through our server (Cloudflare) to Google.
- Official Korean address: the selected place’s name, coordinates and address are passed through our server to the Korean government’s Road Name Address API (Ministry of the Interior and Safety) and VWorld (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport).
- Opening a map app: the place name and coordinates are passed to Naver Map, KakaoMap or Google Maps. Their own privacy policies apply from then on.
Our server does not store this information, but it may appear in our infrastructure provider’s access logs.
4. Usage statistics (Google Analytics)
To improve the Service we use Google Analytics to collect usage statistics such as pages visited, device and browser type, approximate location (country/city level) and which features are used (e.g. searching, copying an address, opening a map app, showing the taxi card). We do not send search text, place names, addresses, coordinates or your current location, and Google signals and ad personalization are turned off.
Google Analytics uses cookies. You can opt out with the browser add-on below. The Service shows no ads.
